A tragic house fire in El Centro devastated the Meza family, claiming their home and beloved golden retriever, Guerro. The fire broke out Wednesday night, trapping Guerro inside. The homeowner’s heroic attempts to rescue him were thwarted by intense heat and flames. Esmeralda Meza expressed the family’s overwhelming grief, noting that Guerro was irreplaceable.
The Meza family, known for their strong ties to the Imperial Valley community, has launched an online fundraiser seeking $3,500 to help cover immediate living expenses following their loss. As of Thursday, they’ve raised $1,657. Meza urged the community for support and invited them to light candles in Guerro’s memory. The fundraiser can be found on GoFundMe titled “Remembering Guerro and the Home They Lost in the Fire.”
