Oceans Calling Festival Canceled Due to Severe Weather
The Oceans Calling Festival in Ocean City has been fully canceled after worsening wind conditions and beach erosion made it unsafe to proceed. Organizers announced the cancellation on Friday, following guidance from the National Weather Service, which issued warnings regarding a rapidly approaching Nor’easter.
Initially, the festival had hoped to continue despite rough weather, but conditions deteriorated further, closing off the possibility of safely staging performances scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. As a result, organizers stated that all ticket purchases made through Front Gate Tickets would be refunded automatically within 30 days.
Artists including the Dave Matthews Band and Hootie & the Blowfish were set to headline Friday’s lineup, while other big names like Twenty One Pilots and Gwen Stefani were slated for Saturday. The festival has faced challenges since its inception, with poor weather leading to cancellations and delays each year.
Current forecasts suggest strong winds, with gusts up to 50 mph expected along the coast, along with flood warnings for the region. Despite the disappointing news, festival-goers expressed understanding regarding the safety decision, even as many traveled long distances to attend the event.
