Ruby Rose got candid about her health challenges on the premiere episode of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. The actress is among 15 celebrities in the fifth season, testing their limits in Asia. Rose revealed that she faced significant challenges entering the show.
She left CW’s Batwoman after its first season, citing potential paralysis from two herniated discs near her spinal cord due to stunts she performed. During the first challenge, after a helicopter jump, Rose had to disclose her condition, saying, “I broke my neck, like, twice already, so I’ve got two replacement discs.”
Rose expressed that her years of being an action star culminated in physical setbacks, stating, “There was no bouncing back… Four years of my life — gone.” Her injury affected her during a late-night obstacle course, where she struggled with a sandbag.
Feeling pressure to perform, she admitted, “The second I think that I’m failing… that will start to play on the sort of confidence and belief in myself.” Despite this, she received encouragement from the show’s director, who reminded her of her superhero persona.
Rose emphasized her identity beyond stunts, saying, “Eventually it’s like, I’m not really that action star, am I? I’m just Ruby.”
This revelation follows a recent incident where Rose broke two ribs in a pool accident in June, humorously announcing it on social media.
New episodes of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test air Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
