Seahawks QB Sam Darnold Set to Return Against Commanders

RENTON, Wash. — Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold will fulfill his wish to play this Sunday against the Washington Commanders. Coach Mike Macdonald noted that Darnold has been performing well in practice and is ready to return to the field.

However, the Seahawks face an injury concern with safety Julian Love, who has been ruled out due to a calf injury sustained during practice. Love was a key player, contributing interceptions in both of Seattle’s first two games. His absence means the Seahawks will be without both of their starting safeties, as Ty Okada is also sidelined with a hamstring issue.

Nick Emmanwori, who recently made his season debut, may take on a hybrid safety role, while Rodney Thomas II is expected to start in place of Okada. A.J. Finley could also step in for Love if needed, marking a significant moment in his career after overcoming injuries.

Rookie running back Jadarian Price, previously listed as injured, has also been cleared to play, contributing to an already dynamic offense. Darnold’s return comes earlier than anticipated from a glute injury he suffered in the season opener against the New England Patriots, from which he has made a remarkable recovery.

Macdonald expressed confidence in Darnold’s performance during practice and excitement about the team’s potential moving forward.
