Caesars Entertainment’s $17.6 billion acquisition by Fertitta Entertainment has received shareholder approval, but local officials in Danville, Virginia, anticipate no changes to the operations at Caesars Virginia. The deal, approved on September 22, includes around $11.9 billion of Caesars’ debt, and still requires regulatory clearance before finalization.
Caesars Virginia, which opened in December 2024, has significantly contributed to the city’s revenue, generating approximately $31.4 million in fiscal year 2025 from gaming fees and taxes. Danville has projected about $35 million in casino-related revenue for fiscal year 2026.
Mayor Alonzo Jones reassured that the existing agreements with Caesars will remain intact and daily operations at the property will not be affected, as it will continue to operate under the Caesars Virginia brand. The casino reported $33.1 million in adjusted gaming revenue in August, leading among Virginia’s five casinos for that month.
The acquisition’s progress will continue as both companies navigate the final regulatory requirements.
