Rockstar has announced a $399.99 collector’s box for GTA 6, which intriguingly does not include the game itself. Instead, fans will receive a six-inch plastic crocodile, among other themed items.
What’s Inside the Collector’s Box:
The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection features:
- Macca the Gator figure
- Oakley Frogskins sunglasses
- New Era cap
- Leonida Keys crossbody bag
- Shot glass
- Magnetic mirror
- Various pins and stickers
- Swizzle spoon
- Razor-blade keychain
- Double-sided poster of the Leonida map
Despite the absence of a game code, fans are intrigued by Rockstar’s clever branding and the nostalgic connection to the game world, reminiscent of actual tourist merchandise.
A Unique Concept
The box stands out due to its concept. Rockstar has created the collection to resemble what a visitor might purchase from Leonida, the fictional locale in GTA 6, making it feel authentic rather than like generic video game merchandise. This approach aligns with the series’ history of crafting immersive environments filled with creative details.
A Souvenir, Not Just Merchandise
Described as a souvenir, the map poster features Macca and is intended to be a keepsake rather than a gameplay reference. This marks a shift from typical collector’s editions, which often focus on game elements like statues and special art.
As the gaming industry sees collector’s edition prices rising, the Goodtime State box emphasizes selling players a piece of the world, straying from the conventional formats most studios employ.
GTA 6 is set to release on November 19 for both PS5 and Xbox, along with the collector’s box.
