New Survey Shows Travel Rewards Offset 40% of Typical Vacation Expenses

The recent survey commissioned by World of Hyatt reveals that 70% of Americans feel pressure to ensure their trips are cost-effective. This study, conducted by Talker Research with 2,000 participants, highlights the increased reliance on travel rewards as a means to alleviate financial constraints in travel planning. Notably, 51% of respondents have taken trips only possible thanks to these rewards, while 74% believe such rewards enhance the value of their travel expenditures.

Despite ongoing economic pressures, a significant 90% of those surveyed acknowledged vacations as essential for mental well-being, and 85% recognize their importance in preventing burnout. The primary obstacles to traveling more frequently are financial limitations (43%) and difficulties in taking time off work (26%).

Interestingly, younger travelers (Gen Z and millennials) show even more reliance on rewards, with 84% and 77% respectively finding value in them. On average, respondents estimate that rewards cover around 40% of typical vacation costs, with Gen Z relying on them for 50% of expenses.

However, 42% of respondents report feeling overwhelmed by travel planning, leading many to delay or forgo trips in hopes of better deals. While rewards can alleviate some costs, 19% of participants find them complicated to manage, indicating a need for simplified reward systems.

The survey was conducted among U.S. adults aged 18-65 who travel at least annually, with a methodical approach to ensure diverse representation.
