Remember Me Thursday: A Tribute to Beloved Pets
SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCSC) — Dorchester Paws invites the community to participate in Remember Me Thursday, a nationwide event honoring pets that have passed away and highlighting shelter animals in need of homes.
The free event will take place on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Azalea Park in downtown Summerville. Executive Director April Howard emphasized the goal of uniting the community in a night of remembrance, hope, and celebration.
“Remember Me Thursday gives us an opportunity to pause and remember the pets we’ve loved and lost, celebrate the animals who have found their families, and shine a light on those still waiting for their chance,” Howard shared.
Attendees can expect a luminary walk featuring adoptable animals, pet portraits, and special remembrance moments.
Observed annually on the fourth Thursday of September, Remember Me Thursday encourages individuals to share stories, celebrate adopted pets, and raise awareness about animals in shelters. This year, the event will be recognized in over 140 countries, involving more than 1,000 animal welfare organizations worldwide.
