Andy Carroll, the former striker for Liverpool and Newcastle United, has opened up about a traumatic experience in his autobiography, Owning It. He revealed he was sexually assaulted by a “celebrity mate” of his former wife, Billi Mucklow, at his home in 2021 after a match.
Carroll detailed how he felt uneasy during the visit and later woke up to the assault. He managed to throw the attacker out and subsequently called the police. The assailant was found guilty and sentenced to three years in prison, with additional restrictions placed upon him.
In his book, Carroll expressed the emotional burden of the incident, stating it affected his daily life and focus, including his football career. He included this personal account after a conversation with his girlfriend, Lou Teasdale, emphasizing that sharing his story might help others who have faced similar situations. Carroll currently co-owns and plays for Dagenham and Redbridge in the National League South.
