Meet Shiloh, Our Adoptable Pet of the Week in Greater Portland
WESTBROOK, Maine — This week’s featured adoptable pet from the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland is Shiloh, whose furry little face and heartwarming backstory are sure to captivate you.
Shiloh was rescued from a puppy mill and has spent much of his 6 years living in a crate. Despite this difficult start, he is a sweet and friendly dog. His name means “tranquil” or “peaceful” in Hebrew.
Matt Blanchard from the Animal Refuge League mentions that Shiloh is currently working on leash training and commands, and he is making excellent progress.
“We’re looking for a family that isn’t necessarily seeking a ‘ready-to-go’ dog. Shiloh is kind of a DIY project,” Blanchard said.
Shiloh is open to being in a home with other dogs, though his feelings about cats are still unclear.
For more information on Shiloh or to see other adoptable pets, visit the Animal Refuge League’s website, as long as he is still searching for his forever home.
Anyone interested in meeting Shiloh or other pets can visit the Animal Refuge League’s shelter at 217 Landing Road in Westbrook between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. (closed on Wednesdays). The Shelter operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Early arrivals can sign in on the front door starting at 9 a.m. and are asked to stay on the campus.
Note: If you’re considering adopting Shiloh, and if you have a dog older than 6 months, that dog will need to meet Shiloh before you can bring him home.
Help Shiloh find the loving home he deserves! 🐾
