The ‘intensely competitive’ Celebrity Traitors contestant leveraging math for victory

Celebrity Traitors is introducing a unique contestant this season: mathematician Professor Hannah Fry. Known for her competitive spirit and expertise in statistics, Fry aims to leverage her analytical skills to identify the “Traitors” within the game. As a lecturer at the University of Cambridge and BBC presenter, she has prepared extensively, analyzing previous seasons to uncover patterns in contestant behavior, similar to methods used by Alan Turing to crack the Enigma code.

Fry has noticed that Traitors often engage in early “burn votes” to throw suspicion on others, a tactic she considers part of her strategic advantage. While she is confident, she also acknowledges the unpredictability of the Faithfuls’ ability to detect the Traitors, as their behavior can often be erratic.

Comedian James Acaster has expressed concern about Fry’s analytical approach, particularly given the increased scrutiny placed upon comedians following the victory of Alan Carr in a previous celebrity version of the show.

This season features a diverse array of contestants, including actors like Bella Ramsey and musicians like Leigh-Anne Pinnock. Claudia Winkleman returns as host for the second season, which premieres on October 1 and will air twice weekly.
