Zelenskyy States Ukraine Will Cease Energy Attacks If Russia Follows Suit, Following Meeting with Trump — UNITED24 Media

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently met with US President Donald Trump during the UN General Assembly. Their discussions included defense initiatives and a proposed energy truce aimed at stabilizing the region.

Zelenskyy presented a range of proposals, such as seeking US authorization for domestic production of Patriot air defense systems and initiating discussions on a mutual energy truce with the potential for trilateral peace talks involving Washington and Moscow.

Key to Zelenskyy’s defense strategy is a contract with Germany for 600 Patriot missiles to address urgent needs, as well as urgent requests for missile transfers from the US to protect Ukrainian civilians. He noted discussions with defense manufacturer Raytheon about producing Patriot systems domestically.

On the diplomacy front, Zelenskyy emphasized readiness for an energy truce, stating Ukraine could halt strikes on Russian energy infrastructure if Russia reciprocates. However, he expressed skepticism about Russia’s commitment, warning that violations could occur.

Zelenskyy reiterated his openness to a trilateral summit with Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to facilitate peace negotiations, emphasizing the need for reliable agreements that are enforceable over the long term.

This engagement highlights Ukraine’s ongoing quest for enhanced military support and diplomatic resolution amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia.
