Xbox has announced the layoff of 268 employees as part of the ongoing restructuring that began in July, initially involving a total of 3,200 job cuts across Activision and Xbox studios. The layoffs have affected multiple studios in different capacities, with some teams losing only a few members while others experienced cuts of nearly half their workforce.
Affected Studios
The following studios were reported to be impacted by the layoffs:
- Halo Studios
- The Coalition
- World’s Edge
- Treyarch
- Xbox Game Studios (general)
In a memo, Xbox’s chief content officer, Matt Booty, expressed gratitude for the contributions of those affected and stated that the company is nearing completion of its restructuring plans. Changes include Rare and World’s Edge being moved to Activision and a merger between Playground and Turn 10.
