Incredible Achievement: 135,000 Pets Adopted!
This year marked a significant success for the annual Clear The Shelters campaign run by NBC and Universal, which resulted in the adoption of 135,000 pets, including dogs and cats, from shelters across the country. The campaign, which took place from July to September, also raised $480,000 for over 1,000 participating animal shelters.
Over the past 12 years, Clear The Shelters has facilitated the adoption of 1.5 million pets and has generated over $6 million in support for shelters—a truly remarkable accomplishment.
Meredith McGinn, NBC Local’s Executive VP of original production, expressed gratitude for the campaign’s impact, stating, “Clear The Shelters demonstrates what’s possible when our communities come together to help pets in need.”
The campaign involved more than 100 NBC and Telemundo stations, showcasing adoption events and highlighting the animals available in over 1,200 shelters from 47 states, alongside DC, Guam, and Puerto Rico. These efforts aimed to raise awareness of the wonderful pets waiting for homes.
