Sparkie is an adorable six-year-old, female Blue Heeler. She was featured as the pet of the week approximately three months ago. [Photo provided]
When Sparkie arrived at the shelter, she was nervous after losing her loving owner. Initially, she went home with a foster and has been thriving in her new environment, showing off her glowing outgoing personality. It’s now time for Sparkie to find her forever home, as her foster mom needs to help another dog in a similar situation.
Being a true Blue Heeler, Sparkie loves the outdoors and enjoys long leisurely walks. However, keep an eye out for smaller wild animals, as she will chase them! She also loves to chase balls, although she can be a bit stubborn about returning them.
After a fun-filled day of outdoor play, Sparkie often brings her excitement back inside but quickly settles into a nap. Despite her energetic nature, she is completely house-trained and can be left alone for several hours without getting into trouble.
Sparkie is not fond of cats, but she shows no aggression toward them. The ideal home for her would be a one-pet household, though she adapts well to new surroundings.
She is microchipped, up to date on her rabies vaccine, and has been treated for fleas. Sparkie has tested negative for heartworms and does not take heartworm preventative.
If Sparkie’s story has touched your heart and you want to rescue her from her traumatic past, call the shelter at 309-852-0040 to set up an appointment to meet this energetic and resilient canine. Adoption fee is $100.
