Governor Tate Reeves Discusses Energy’s Future in Biloxi

Governor Tate Reeves and energy leaders from the southern states are convening in Biloxi to address the region’s role in powering America’s future. The Southern States Energy Board’s annual meeting is focusing on critical topics like nuclear energy, grid resilience, and the energy demands driven by artificial intelligence.

Governor Reeves emphasized that states will be divided into those that can meet industrial job creation demands and those that will fall behind. He highlighted the South’s opportunities to thrive in energy capacity and investment through his “Mississippi’s Power Play” initiative, aimed at ensuring affordable and reliable energy.

During the meeting, Gov. Reeves discussed economic growth and energy security with former President Donald Trump, noting the necessity for energy-dependent projects to contribute to infrastructure costs.

Puerto Rican Governor Jennifer Gonzalez-Colon was appointed as the new board chairman, succeeding Gov. Reeves. She reinforced the need for the U.S. to focus on domestic manufacturing instead of relying on foreign imports.

The annual meeting will continue through Wednesday, bringing focus to vital energy strategies for the Southern states.
