Pasadena Humane’s Popular “Poorly Drawn Pets” Fundraiser Returns!
The beloved “poorly drawn pets” fundraiser by Pasadena Humane is back, and the excitement is palpable! As of Monday, artists have already begun drawing pets to raise funds for the shelter.
How It Works
To participate, simply make a donation through this Facebook post and comment with a photo of your pet. Volunteers will respond within about a day with their artistic interpretation. Don’t have a Facebook account? You can also contribute here via email.
Expect the Unexpected
Pasadena Humane humorously reminds participants that their strength lies in caring for animals, not necessarily in drawing them. Some artists may have genuine talent, while others may provide a more… “artistic interpretation” of your furry friends.
Last Year’s Success
Last year, the fundraiser exceeded expectations, raising approximately $11,000 from over 450 submissions. From dogs and cats to birds and turtles, every pet counts!
Meet the Artists
On Monday morning, volunteers and staff turned a room into the official drawing space, armed with markers, colored pencils, and plenty of enthusiasm. Julie Nakahara, the director of partnerships and events, humorously described her drawing skills as akin to a “toddler” or maybe “fourth grade.”
Join the Fun!
You have until 12 p.m. Wednesday to submit your pets for this engaging fundraiser that not only fosters creativity but also supports the shelter’s mission.
