Celebrity Chef Susie Jimenez, a long-time resident of the Roaring Fork Valley, is leveraging her culinary skills and experience to honor veterans and first responders in a heartfelt event on September 29. Known for her journey from a contestant to a recognized chef on the Food Network, Jimenez is dedicated to giving back to her community.

Jimenez and her husband, Gabe Adame, are hosting a free lunch at American Legion Post 100 in Carbondale. This event is designed to provide a restaurant-style dining experience, treating guests like royals while honoring their service.
Menu Highlights:
- Grilled wild boar, turkey, and elk with Brazilian sauces
- Grilled vegetables and rice pilaf
- Live music to enhance the dining experience
The Inspiration
For Adame, a 23-year Air Force veteran, this initiative is deeply personal. He aims to foster community among veterans in the area, providing a space for connection and support.
Jimenez hopes to create memorable experiences through shared meals, emphasizing the importance of breaking bread together. “When people break bread together, it’s something different than shaking someone’s hand,” she states.
Making an Impact
The event is supported by the Sportsman Channel’s Hunt.Fish.Feed program, which has provided over 45,000 meals to those in need since its inception in 2007. Jimenez’s commitment to honoring those who serve is heightened by her marriage to Adame, as she witnesses firsthand the challenges veterans face.
“Even though I already did things with the Sportsman’s Channel before I married him, I always wanted to give back,” she reflects.
