Ministry Requests One-Day Holiday for Vietnam Culture Day Without Workday Exchange

The Vietnamese Ministry of Home Affairs has proposed that employees take a one-day break on November 24, 2026, in recognition of Vietnam Culture Day. This day falls on a Tuesday, and the ministry suggested no additional working days would be swapped to avoid disrupting work schedules.

Previously, there was consideration for a long weekend that included swapping a Saturday for Monday to allow a four-day break from November 21 to 24. However, after discussions, the ministry decided to keep the holiday as a stand-alone day off.

This decision aligns with the ministry’s goal to support participation in cultural and community activities while ensuring operations in government and business continue smoothly during a busy period for year-end activities. The arrangement aims to balance celebrating cultural heritage with maintaining productivity across the economy. The ministry also indicated that proposals for future holidays, including the 2027 Lunar New Year and National Day, remain unchanged.
