The Treasure Coast Kennel Club and Dogs and Cats Forever Animal Sanctuary are hosting Responsible Dog Ownership Day this Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the sanctuary located at 4600 Selvitz Road in Fort Pierce. This free event aims to educate families on responsible pet ownership, promote adoption awareness, and raise funds for shelter animals.
Activities include dog training demonstrations, therapy and service dog education, agility showcases, raffles, food trucks, and children’s activities like bounce houses and a scavenger hunt. Participants can earn vouchers for free raffle tickets by joining the scavenger hunt, with prizes such as gift baskets, gift cards, and a television.
Organizers emphasize the need for donations, especially given the current challenges of overcrowding and supply shortages in shelters. The first 50 attendees to bring donations like pet food, towels, or blankets will receive swag bags. Additionally, information about obedience training and local pet resources will be available.
Admission is free, and families are encouraged to come out, engage with local resources, and support animals in need.
