Community Pet Pantries Opened in Guilford County
GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A local Girl Scout, 17-year-old Evelyn McKnight, is making a significant impact by partnering with Guilford County Animal Services to help pet owners in need.
McKnight is spearheading a project to establish two community pet pantries in Greensboro and High Point that will provide free pet food and supplies to those requiring assistance.
This initiative is part of her effort to earn the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouting. In collaboration with local businesses, McKnight has brought her vision to life: Diversified Fence Builders donated materials and built the two pantries, while Budget Printing provided signage. The Rotary Club of High Point, along with her friends and local teams, contributed pet food and supplies to stock the pantries.
McKnight expressed her gratitude, stating, “I’m grateful to everyone who helped bring the community pet pantries to life. I wanted to create something that would help pets and their families, especially when someone may be going through a difficult time and needs a little extra support. This project means a lot to me and has been very rewarding.”
