There’s been a flurry of news regarding next-gen graphics cards, particularly the RDNA 5-powered Radeon RX 10000 Series and NVIDIA’s RTX 60 Series. Reports suggest that while the RTX 60 Series could launch in early 2027, there are conflicting claims indicating delays into 2028. However, AMD may release its next-gen GPU, codenamed AT2 and expected to be the successor to the Radeon RX 9070 XT, as early as 2027.
Leaker Kepler_L2 has noted that this mid-range GPU could offer competitive performance, boasting 40 Compute Units (CUs) and leveraging TSMC’s 3nm manufacturing process. This could represent a significant improvement in graphics performance, potentially outperforming NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and 5080 while remaining under the $1,000 mark.
Additionally, RDNA 5 aims to enhance AI and path-tracing capabilities, enabling advanced features like AI-powered texture compression. However, for AMD to succeed, these technologies will need to be ready for launch day with adequate game support.
If AMD manages to deliver a compelling product before NVIDIA’s next releases, it could greatly improve competition in the graphics card market.
