Denver Dog Daycare Owner Faces Animal Cruelty Charges Following Dog’s Death in Vehicle

The owner of a Denver pet daycare has been cited for animal cruelty following the death of a dog left in a hot vehicle on August 26. Investigators believe the dog died from heat exposure, but the incident was only reported to the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment on September 11.

Happy Tail Happy Dog, located at 4352 Cherokee St., offers daycare, grooming, and boarding services for dogs. The facility is co-owned by Ted Gualtier and Julian Hogan, although city officials did not specify which owner was cited.

The case will likely be filed in Denver District Court later this week. A spokesperson emphasized that animals should never be left in cars, as temperatures can escalate rapidly, leading to severe health risks.

For concerns about pets in hot vehicles, the public can contact Denver Animal Protection at 720-913-2080.
