Entertainment Sector Backs U.S. Film Production Incentives

The U.S. Film & TV Production Coalition has been formed by various industry groups to advocate for a federal production incentive, specifically a proposed 20% tax credit. This initiative aims to combat the trend of production moving overseas. A recent study indicates that this tax credit could generate $250 billion in economic value and create an average of 143,500 jobs per year from 2027 to 2035. Key figures, including MPA chairman Charles Rivkin and various Congress members, emphasize the need for bipartisan support to ensure that American productions remain competitive. The legislation aims to introduce additional incentives for productions in disaster areas and independent companies. The urgency for this initiative is heightened as legislative sessions near their end.
