Kitchen Fire Displaces South Milwaukee Family
A kitchen fire erupted last Tuesday in South Milwaukee, displacing a family of ten, including six adults, four children, and three dogs.
Alice Cox was at home when the fire started in the ground-floor kitchen. “It’s heartbreaking. My daughter, who is 21, has lived here since she was 3. And now we don’t have it,” she shared.
Cox credited her dogs with helping her escape the flames. “I reached down and grabbed their collars to get them out, and they kind of drug me out because I couldn’t find my way out,” she explained.
Firefighters from South Milwaukee, Cudahy, St. Francis, Oak Creek, and Milwaukee quickly responded and extinguished the fire within minutes. Despite their prompt action, the Cox family has been displaced from their home.
