Seth Rogen shares explicit advice that Judd Apatow “yelled” at the “Knocked Up” cast.

Seth Rogen recently shared some memorable advice he received from Judd Apatow during the filming of Knocked Up. At a panel discussion, Rogen recalled how Apatow encouraged the cast to focus on bringing “less semen, more emotion” to their performances. While this advice may have seemed crude at first, Rogen found it surprisingly profound.

He noted that this guidance has had a lasting impact on his filmmaking, often reminding collaborators to balance humor with genuine emotion. Rogen also highlighted that Apatow didn’t advocate for the complete removal of humor but suggested a measured approach, emphasizing the importance of navigating tone in storytelling.

Additionally, Rogen appreciated Apatow’s encouragement to write authentically, allowing him and his writing partner Evan Goldberg significant creative freedom at a young age. Their collaborative history dates back to the cult classic Freaks and Geeks and includes films like Superbad and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
