Lancaster County wildlife center caring for injured baby chipmunk and offering guidance to pet owners

The Raven Ridge Wildlife Center is advising pet owners following the rescue of an emaciated baby chipmunk. After a local woman’s dog brought the chipmunk to her, volunteers noted its poor condition and began administering critical care formula. They suspect the chipmunk may be orphaned, as young chipmunks typically remain in their underground burrows until they are 6 to 8 weeks old.

The center emphasized the importance of seeking help from wildlife rehabilitators if pets encounter wild animals, as those animals may suffer from serious injuries. Fortunately, the chipmunk has shown significant improvement after 24 hours in their care.
