Travel disruption at California airports as extensive closures occur on Friday

Weather across California and the US caused significant travel delays Friday morning, affecting major airports on both coasts.

San Francisco International Airport experienced delays averaging about 45 minutes due to low cloud cover, while San Diego International Airport faced nearly an hour’s delay from strong winds. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and other hubs like Boston and Miami also reported disruptions.

Fortunately, as the morning progressed, the delays began to ease, with the FAA indicating reductions to 15 minutes or less at some airports. Travelers were encouraged to check with their airlines regarding specific flight delays.

Additionally, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) maintained restrictions on unscheduled general aviation traffic, requiring operators to obtain permission 24 hours in advance; however, scheduled commercial flights remained unaffected.
