Roblox: Introducing Offline Play, In-Browser Gaming, and Generative AI for Game Development

Roblox Announces Major Updates for Gamers and Creators

Roblox has unveiled a series of exciting updates at its 12th annual Developers Conference (RDC). The new features aim to enhance the gaming experience, providing users with the ability to develop standalone games for multiple platforms, play offline, and utilize browser capabilities.

Key Highlights of the Announcement:

  • Roblox Everywhere: Users can now create games that are available as standalone apps on mobile devices, PCs, and consoles, with Roblox technology serving as the backbone.

  • Browser Play: Players will soon be able to access games directly through their Chrome browser without needing to install the Roblox app. This feature will allow users to share links to games, making it easier for anyone on the web to join in. It is slated for release by the end of 2026, with additional browser support to follow.

  • Offline Play: Roblox is introducing features allowing users to play offline, even with unreliable internet connections. The offline capability is expected to arrive by mid-2027, with early access available sooner.

  • Build Tab Expansion: The public alpha of the Build Tab—which enables users to create and publish games by simply entering a prompt—will expand to include users in Serbia and Singapore, following its initial launch in New Zealand.

  • Financial Enhancements for Creators: Roblox is also rolling out a standalone Roblox Wallet for U.S.-based creators, along with the Roblox Card, a branded debit card for spending earnings. The card is set to launch in 2027.

These updates emphasize Roblox’s commitment to empowering its community of creators while streamlining the user experience across various platforms.
