The African Energy Chamber is emphasizing the critical need for unity and cooperation in the energy sector ahead of African Energy Week (AEW) 2026, set to take place in Cape Town from October 12 to 16. The chamber highlights the stark reality of roughly 600 million Africans lacking electricity and a significant financing gap in the sector, which totals up to $95 billion annually.
The event aims to gather over 10,000 delegates from various countries, enhancing the continent’s energy agenda while shielding it from political tensions, particularly between Nigeria and South Africa. The chamber stresses that energy can be a unifying force for economic growth, regional integration, and job creation.
With an urgent call for increased intra-African trade and mobility, leaders are encouraged to expedite visa-free travel and create an enabling environment for entrepreneurs. The aim is to ensure that investment flows, businesses thrive, and Africa remains aligned with its developmental goals, avoiding the pitfalls of political disruptions. NJ Ayuk, the Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber, calls for measured responses to challenges, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in driving Africa’s energy progress.
