Apple Unveils Foldable iPhone Duo
After years of rumors, Apple has revealed its latest innovation: the foldable iPhone Duo. A sneak peek video shared by Geoff Keighley showcases the gaming experience on this new device, and honestly, the gameplay doesn’t look terrible.
Pricing and Comparison
The experience might feel familiar if you’ve played games on a tablet, but the question remains: Is the gaming experience worth the $1,999 price tag?
Apple made the announcement during its hardware event on September 9. The Duo is a late entrant into the foldable smartphone market, arriving after several competitors have already released similar devices.
Features of the iPhone Duo
Design and Display
The iPhone Duo features a 5.4-inch outer display that opens to reveal a spacious 7.6-inch inner screen—the largest Apple has ever placed on an iPhone. It runs on the new A20 Pro chip and supports multitasking with multiple apps. Notably, it includes support for Apple Pencil input, with layouts specifically designed for the folding display.
Battery Life
Apple claims the Duo can offer up to 31 hours of video playback using the inner screen; the outer screen extends that to 44 hours. When using both screens, expect about 24 hours of battery life.
Price and Availability
Starting at $1,999, the Duo is the most expensive iPhone to date, putting it in the “please don’t drop that” category. For those who plan to use it for gaming, a case will be essential.
Preorders will start on October 16, with the device set to arrive on October 23.
The iPhone Duo may just be a contender for a top-notch handheld gaming device after all!
