Fall Allergies: A Challenge for Many
As fall approaches and temperatures begin to drop, allergy sufferers may face new challenges. In the Midwest, ragweed is at its peak, leading to increased symptoms such as sneezing, congestion, and itchy eyes.
Scott Grillo, National Sales Manager at FurZapper, notes that late summer and early fall can be particularly tough due to the prevalence of ragweed pollen, alongside issues like mold and pet dander.
Heading indoors for relief might not be as effective as many hope, as pollen can easily hitch a ride on clothing, bedding, and pets. Grillo advises that pets, in particular, can carry pollen back into the home on their fur and paws, making it essential to clean them after outdoor activities.
To mitigate indoor allergens, Grillo recommends regular cleaning in areas where pets spend time, such as pet beds, blankets, and rugs. Simple routines, like wiping down pets and vacuuming regularly, can significantly reduce indoor pollen levels.
While controlling outdoor allergens can be challenging, adopting these practices at home may help allergy sufferers breathe a little easier during the fall season.
