INTERVIEW: Yearly Event Showcasing Indian Culture in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The Cape Fear Cultural Association of India is hosting its third annual India Day celebration this weekend, inviting the community to engage in a vibrant showcase of Indian culture.

Event organizers Dr. Sejal Patel and Shashin Patel emphasized the importance of the event as a means to share their heritage and promote cultural integration. “It’s a time to build resilience, tolerance, but also peace and harmony,” said Patel.

Participants can look forward to traditional dance performances, live music, yoga, a fashion show, and various vendors offering clothing, merchandise, and henna art. Additionally, Novant Health will provide free health screenings on-site.

The event will take place on September 12 at the Harrelson Center in downtown Wilmington, running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
