An exciting new catering venture has emerged in Overland Park, seeking to address a significant gap in Kansas City’s culinary landscape by offering kosher meal options.

New Overland Park catering business brings kosher food options to Kansas City

Kosher food consists of meals prepared in accordance with Jewish dietary laws. While kosher ingredients can be found in grocery stores—marked by specific symbols on their packaging—finding prepared kosher meals in the Kansas City area has proven to be quite challenging.

This is where Graze KC steps in. The catering service, established by Brachie Pearl and Chaya Niedzwiecki, is committed to serving both kosher consumers and the broader Kansas City community.

“There are individuals who cannot eat out unless they’re invited to someone’s home,” Pearl explained. “The need is significant, especially when basic items like challah are not easily found in stores.”

Kosher meals have distinct preparation requirements. At its core, kosher dietary laws necessitate the separation of milk and meat products. Pearl and her partner prepare these meals in separate kitchens, adhering strictly to all dietary regulations, ensuring compliance that may not exist in traditional restaurant environments.

This new business meets a crucial need in the community. According to US Foods, the average American dines out three times a month and orders takeout more than four times a month. For kosher eaters in Kansas City, those figures are significantly lower due to the limited options available.

“Our goal at Graze KC is to cater not just to kosher consumers in Kansas City, but to the entire community—whether or not they follow kosher dietary laws,” Pearl stated.

Graze KC provides a diverse range of offerings, from grazing boards and takeout meals to large-scale event catering. A significant portion of their current efforts is focused on the upcoming World Cup. The global spotlight of this event is expected to attract more kosher diners, prompting them to design a special menu for each day throughout the six-week duration of the tournament.
