‘South Park’ Transformed into ‘South America’ in Bid to Satirize Trump

Billionaire comedy duo Trey Parker and Matt Stone are rebranding “South Park” to “South America” as they prepare for the show’s 29th season. This change coincides with President Trump’s renaming of Lake Ontario to Lake America amid rising tensions in the U.S.-Canada trade war, a decision that tech giants Apple and Google recently implemented on their maps.

The duo announced the name change on social media, expressing admiration for Apple’s and Google’s actions and humorously thanking their parent company Paramount and its new owner, Skydance Media, for what they described as a “capitulation” to the Trump administration’s policies.

They have also critically addressed corporate adjustments under Skydance Media, which included a significant settlement related to a “60 Minutes” lawsuit that impacted Paramount’s merger. Furthermore, previous episodes of the show have drawn criticism from the White House for their provocative content regarding Trump.

Despite the controversy, “South Park” recently won an Emmy for outstanding animated program and has secured a lucrative streaming deal that solidifies its place as a key player in television. The new season, now titled “South America,” is set to premiere on September 16 at 10 p.m. on Comedy Central.
