Microsoft’s disc-to-digital program for Xbox has entered testing, supporting over 1,000 games and allowing users to convert physical games into digital licenses. By inserting a compatible disc into an Xbox One or Xbox Series X, players can associate the game with their account, enabling cloud access and console sharing without the physical disc.
Initially, some major publishers, including Ubisoft, were hesitant to join. However, recent updates indicate that Ubisoft titles are now accessible in the program.
Despite its impressive rollout, the program’s future involvement from various publishers remains uncertain. With the industry’s shift towards digital, many anticipate further engagement from other companies like Square Enix.
