The Empress Theatre in downtown Vallejo is expanding its offerings after 115 years, aiming to become a regular destination for entertainment. The theatre and its Marquee Club plan to host over 70 nights of diverse programming, including live music, community events, and private celebrations, starting this week. Jay Johnson, the Production Manager, emphasizes the goal of integrating the theatre into locals’ weekly routines.
The new schedule includes live blues and jazz, and a weekly Supper Club, aiming to attract regular visitors from Vallejo and beyond. Johnson highlights the vibrant downtown area, filled with restaurants and shops, as a hub for community engagement. Upcoming events will feature tribute acts and a variety of musical genres, while the Marquee Club will now function as both a restaurant and an intimate concert venue.
In support of these changes, the theatre has launched a rebuilt website, consolidating event information, dining options, and ticket sales in one place, enhancing accessibility for the community. The overarching goal is to keep the historic venue vibrant with live performances, creating a lasting connection with the audience.
