Consumers Energy has decided to extend the timetable for the sale of its 13 dams by 60 days. This move allows more time for Consumers Energy and Confluence Hydro to address concerns raised by various parties involved in the regulatory case. The company is seeking approval to sell the dams while planning to purchase the energy they generate for the next 30 years.
Adam Monroe, the executive director of hydro operations at Consumers Energy, expressed optimism about the extension, stating it’s beneficial for communities reliant on these dams. The Michigan Public Service Commission’s decision will now be pushed into November, and Monroe assured the public that updates will be provided as they work through the process.
