Bally’s Appoints George Papanier as Interim CFO Following Mira Mircheva’s Resignation | Inside Gaming | Business

Bally’s Corp. is undergoing a financial leadership change as it navigates significant development plans around the Athletics’ new Las Vegas ballpark. Effective September 4, George Papanier has been appointed interim chief financial officer, succeeding Mira Mircheva, who is resigning for personal reasons but will assist in the transition until September 30. Papanier, who has over 40 years of experience in the gaming industry, will maintain his role as president and board member while previously having served as a CEO and interim CFO.

The leadership change coincides with Bally’s development of a 26-acre site where a $2 billion ballpark is set to open in 2028. Clark County has approved land-use entitlements for Bally’s mixed-use development that includes retail, dining, entertainment, and a theater. The site will feature a parking garage, temporary surface parking, and later plans for a hotel-casino.

Despite these developments, there are uncertainties regarding Bally’s role in the project, as an unnamed group has expressed interest in acquiring the planned $1.1 billion initiative. Clark County officials have noted that the development entitlements can be transferred to another developer if Bally’s does not proceed.

In related news, MGM Resorts International and BetMGM have pledged over $300,000 for Responsible Gaming Education Month, supporting research and programs to promote responsible gambling. Their initiatives include GameSense messaging at Las Vegas sports venues and training over 3,000 employees as GameSense Advisors to help players make informed gambling decisions.

Additionally, the Golden Nugget Las Vegas is hosting a job fair on September 23, seeking experienced dealers for its gaming operations, with open interviews for craps and dual rate positions. Candidates are encouraged to apply online and bring their resumes to the event.
