Volvo Trucks Issues Safety Guidelines for Pet Travel for Truck Drivers

Volvo Trucks North America (VTNA) has introduced new safety recommendations aimed at ensuring the safety of pets traveling in truck cabs. Collaborating with the Center for Pet Safety, this guidance is tailored for both new and experienced drivers traveling with dogs or cats. It includes essential advice on pet restraint, emergency preparedness, weather safety, first aid, and overnight stops.

The free guide emphasizes the importance of properly restraining pets while in motion and offers tips on selecting crash-tested harnesses and carriers. This initiative follows a recent evaluation at the Volvo Customer Center in Dublin, Virginia, where experts assessed the Volvo VNL’s suitability for pet safety, including its anchor points, restraint options, and climate control features.

Lindsey Wolko, founder and CEO of the Center for Pet Safety, highlights the significance of the guide, noting it provides practical solutions for drivers to protect their pets. The guidance presents a vital resource for truck drivers, helping them prioritize pet safety without complicating their routines.
