Understanding Salmonella and Its Effects
Common symptoms include:
- Fever
- Headache
- Diarrhea (which may be bloody)
- Stomach cramps
- Nausea and vomiting
Typically, symptoms last from 4 to 7 days. The primary concern during infection is dehydration, so it’s important to stay well-hydrated with clear fluids while recovering.
In more severe cases, the infection can spread from the intestines into the bloodstream, leading to potentially life-threatening complications if not treated promptly.
While most salmonella infections resolve on their own, individuals with weakened immune systems or severe symptoms should seek medical attention.
