One million travelers expected at SEA Airport over Labor Day weekend – KIRO 7 News Seattle

Labor Day Travel Tips for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)

As Labor Day weekend wraps up, millions will be returning home, with SEA expecting around one million travelers from September 3 to 8. Here are some helpful insights and tips for your journey:

Expected Passenger Volumes

  • Thursday, September 3: 180,000 passengers
  • Friday, September 4: 180,000 passengers
  • Monday, September 7: 180,000 passengers

For comparison, the highest traffic day recorded at SEA was in August 2025 with 207,000 passengers. The summer months (June to August) are the busiest season at SEA.

Travel Tips

  • Arrive Early: Aim to be at the airport at least 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours for international flights. Early arrivals help avoid rushes, especially before 9 a.m., and during busy afternoon and evening hours.

  • Avoid Traffic: Use public transport, rideshares, or the SEA parking garage for quick pickups. You might even grab a coffee while waiting!

  • Think Opposite: Use the lower Arrivals drive during busy morning hours and switch to the upper Departures drive in the evening if you’re picking someone up.

  • Head Straight to Security: Check-in online, and head directly to security if you don’t need to check baggage.

  • Customer Care Support: SEA Customer Care is available for assistance from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at three Information Desks located near checkpoints and gates.
