Rob Reiner, the esteemed filmmaker and actor, was posthumously honored with an Emmy Award at the Creative Arts event in Los Angeles on Sunday, ahead of the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards scheduled for September 1. The 78-year-old Bronx native, who tragically passed away in December, received the award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for his performance on the FX show “The Bear.”
In this category, Reiner was nominated alongside notable actors including Michael J. Fox, Brett Goldstein, Hamish Linklater, Christopher McDonald, and Connor Storrie.
Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Ryan, were found murdered in their Los Angeles home on December 14. Their son, Nick Reiner, has been charged with their murders and is currently awaiting trial after pleading not guilty to the charges.
Jake Reiner, the actor’s son, expressed his disbelief regarding the circumstances, stating, “I’ll never understand. I don’t care how it’s explained to me. I don’t care what facts come out. I will never understand why this happened.”
In addition to this recent accolade, Rob Reiner is known for directing iconic films such as “Stand By Me,” “When Harry Met Sally,” and “This is Spinal Tap.” He previously won Primetime Emmy Awards in 1974 and 1978 for his role as Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the beloved sitcom “All in the Family.”
