Czech fire authorities identify safety infractions at entertainment locations.

Czech fire service officials reported over 2,300 fire safety violations during inspections of entertainment venues following the tragic fire in Crans-Montana, which resulted in over 40 deaths and more than 100 injuries. Interior Minister Lubomír Metnar emphasized the need for venue owners to improve safety measures. Common violations included missing fire extinguishers and blocked emergency exits, with the highest issues found in Prague and border regions. Nearly 800 establishments have been inspected, aiming to prioritize safety over fines, which totaled 5.5 million koruna (around $260,000). Fire and Rescue Service chief Petr Oslejsek stated the goal is to ensure the safety of patrons at night.
