The Oregon Community Foundation has announced over $1 million in grants to support arts and culture projects across the state. Twelve initiatives will receive funding ranging from $10,000 to $100,000, aimed at celebrating creativity, elevating cultural voices, and addressing community issues. Notable projects include documentaries featuring Iraq-American perspectives on war and an Afro-fantasy animated short film created with Portland students.
Roberta Lavadour, executive director of the Pendleton Center for the Arts, expressed enthusiasm for the funding supporting 15 artists who will create experimental baskets for an exhibition. Since 2014, the foundation has consistently invested around $1 million annually in various arts projects, covering a wide spectrum including film, literature, and museum exhibitions.
