This adaptation allows alligators to seal out water and air, enabling them to hunt underwater without any issues.

In the wild, baby alligators can grow to nearly 12 feet long and live for about 50 years. They emerge from eggs laid in the spring, with sex determined by the incubating temperature. Initially measuring just 6 to 8 inches, they stay with their mother for protection as they grow, reaching about a foot in length each year, eventually becoming independent once they hit around four feet.
