Retro South Gaming Convention Returns to Wichita Falls
WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – Gamers are gathering at the MPEC this weekend for the highly anticipated second annual Retro South Gaming Convention.
While the event centers around gaming, its appeal extends to all things nerdy in pop culture, encompassing video games, movies, anime, and more. Since its successful inception in 2025, the convention has quickly established itself within the Texoma community.
This year, the convention is set to expand, featuring more vendors, arcade cabinets, and an array of fighting game tournaments. Event founder Eric Conroy expressed his gratitude towards the community’s support, noting their excitement for a second year. “It literally means the world that the community cared enough about our small gaming event to really honestly start asking us for a second year,” Conroy shared.
Vendor Nicole Goolsby echoed this sentiment, stating, “I’m super excited because I know we have kind of a small town. So when anything that’s like video game, anime, something, I’m like, ‘yes.’ I hope it keeps coming back.”
Conroy added that the community’s enthusiasm highlights a long-standing desire for such an event in Wichita Falls. The convention will take place in the MPEC’s Ray Clymer Exhibit Hall and opens its doors to the public on Saturday, September 5, at 10:30 a.m. Tickets can be purchased online or at the convention.
