Gilbert Companies Participate in Pet Food Donation Drive | Business

Two Gilbert businesses are participating in Kelly Smith’s initiative to assist an East Valley animal rescue, Lost Our Home, which was established during the housing crisis. This weekend, Smith and volunteers began the fifth annual Yes to Pets food and accessory drive, running until October 3rd. Donations can be dropped off at Silk and Stone and The GC Team.

Lost Our Home, founded in 2008, was created to support the many pets abandoned due to foreclosures. Jodi Polanski, the founder, recognized the urgent need for services catering to both pets and their owners in a time of crisis. Smith started the pet food drive in 2022 with 30 businesses and has since expanded it significantly.

The campaign aims to stock both community and shelter food pantries, ensuring pets remain with their families during tough times. Smith coordinates logistics, making participation easy for businesses. Essential items needed include pet food, litter, toys, and cleaning supplies.

Polanski noted that Lost Our Home has successfully rescued over 40,000 pets and supported more than 25,000 pet owners since its inception. More information and ways to donate can be found at lostourhome.org.
