Tom Holland Joins Top Three Box Office Draws
Tom Holland has now secured his place among the top three Hollywood entertainers with the biggest box office draw. His latest film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has crossed a staggering $2.33 billion worldwide, surpassing fellow Marvel star Chris Pratt and placing Holland in third position on the all-time highest-grossing lead actors list, according to Yahoo Entertainment. The current leaders are Zoe Saldaña at $15.47 billion and Scarlett Johansson at $15.4 billion.
As Holland’s fourth Spider-Man film, Brand New Day grossed $22.2 million over the August 28–30 weekend, marking its fifth consecutive No. 1 finish at the North American box office. The domestic total now stands at $891.5 million, coming close to Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ all-time record of $936.6 million.
At just 29 years old, Holland is the youngest actor in the top-10 all-time list, with an impressive per-film lead-role average of $622.1 million across 24 films—the highest of anyone on the list, surpassing Pratt’s $522.7 million and Saldaña’s $468.8 million.
Globally, Brand New Day ranks third on the all-time chart, behind Avengers: Endgame ($2.79 billion) and ahead of Avatar: The Way of Water ($2.32 billion), trailing only Avatar ($2.92 billion). Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and released on July 31, the film also stars Holland’s wife, Zendaya, along with Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, and Mark Ruffalo.
With a possible fifth Spider-Man installment on the horizon, Holland is poised to maintain his status among top-grossing actors. If Brand New Day exceeds $936 million domestically, it would be the first film to ever earn $1 billion at the North American box office alone.
