Kevin Brauer and Vintage Culture have released their first official collaborative project, ‘Selekta’, via Affairs.
The two-track EP fuses influences from Jamaican sound system culture, London’s underground, and ’90s dance music. The title track features London-based rapper Tugawar, blending reggae and UK bassline elements with a robust low-end and a meticulously structured groove.
‘Yoga’ takes a different approach, inspired by ’90s dance music with a pulsating bassline, prominent lead work, and a club-centric arrangement. Originating after ‘Selekta’, this track prompted the producers to transform their collaboration from a standalone single into a complete two-track EP.
The project evolved through remote collaborations before moving into in-person studio sessions, with both tracks tested at clubs and festivals prior to release.
